Rutland City is the hub of the region's shopping.
Downtown Rutland features attractive commercial buildings, many with interesting architectural and historically important characteristics. The downtown area offers street parking, as well as a multi modal transit facility with parking garage. Retail shops, restaurants and lounges as well as financial institutions and professional services line the principal streets.
The Downtown Rutland Partnership, a public private partnership for the revitalization of downtown Rutland, has created a master plan for the commercial heart of the region. Efforts completed include a complete renovation of the downtown plaza, new street scaping, restoration of the Paramount Theater, increased office and commercial space and a renewed emphasis on the 19th century character of the main streets.
Downtown Rutland hosts the Rutland Shopping Plaza which hosts a Price Chopper Superstore, Flagship Cinema, Wal*Mart, clothing stores, specialty shops and restaurants.
The Diamond Run Mall, a 450,000 sq.ft. mall, is located at the Route 4 By-pass and Route 7 South. It features 3 anchor stores, K-Mart, Sears and JC Penney, and smaller shops.
