New Hire Reporting Part 2 of 3
Q: What if I hire an employee but they don't actually start working within 20 days of hiring them?A: In such a case you would delay reporting until the employee actualy begins working. The report of hire must be made within 20 days of the first day services are actually performed.Q: If I layoff and then re-hire an employee, or an employee returns after a leave of absence, do I need to send in another New Hire report?A: If an employee returning to work is required to complete a W-4 form, you MUST report the individual as a new hire to the VT Department of Labor (VDOL). If, however, the returning employee had not been formally terminated or removed from payroll records, there is no need to report that individual.
Workers Comp Corner is sponsored by Poulos Insurance: For more information or rates on Workman's Compensation or any other business insurance contact Chuck Rose at Poulos Insurance, 802-775-4443.
