The Rutland Region Chamber of Commerce is excited to present the RRCC Business Show 2011 sponsored by Rutland Regional Medical Center! RRCC continues to keep exhibitor costs low with spaces beginning at $180.00 for the show. The show will feature a diverse group of members and non members exhibiting everything from home services and products, automobiles, health care, restaurants, retailers and much much more.
This year at the show RRCC will be raising money for the Salvation Army Food Shelf and the BROC Food Shelf through a $3 entrance fee at the door.

RRCC/REDC Legislative Breakfast Feb. 14 On New Taxes

Governor Peter Shumlin was the featured speaker at the RRCC/REDC Legislatlive Breakfast held on January 24th sponsored by TD Bank.

The next RRCC/REDC Legislative Breakfast will feature Michael Costa, Director of the Vermont Blue Ribbon Tax Structure Commission. Mr. Costa will present the findings of the Blue Ribbon Tax Structure Commission and their recommendations to the Vermont Legislature.
The breakfast will take place on February 14th, 7:30am at Franklin Conference Center. The cost is only $8 per person and includes a full breakfast buffet. The RRCC/REDC Legislative Breakfast Series is sponsored by TD Bank.
RRCC/REDC Legislative Bus Trip-Sign Up Now!
RRCC & REDC will also be hold their annual Legislative Bus Trip to the State House in Montpelier on February 22nd, the bus trip is sponsored by OMYA, Inc. The day will start at 7am with coffee and donuts at the RRCC Conference Room (50 Merchants Row, Downtown Rutland), the Premier Coach will depart promptly at 7:30am. The day will include an opportunity to meet with members of the Rutland County Legislative Delegation and other key members of government, attend committee meetings and lunch with officials at Capitol Plaza. Take The GE/Chamber Challenge-We Need You!
GE Rutland and RRCC are teaming up to challenge local businesses and organizations to accept their challenge and organize a team to walk in the March of Dimes Annual Walk for Babies on Saturday morning, April 30th beginning at Mill River Union H.S. in North Clarendon. The new goal of the walk this year is to raise $40,000.
Dan DiBattista, Plant Leader at GE Rutland is Chairing the event for the March of Dimes for the second year. Chamber EVP, Tom Donahue suggested to Dan that the two organizations team up to challenge the businesses and the community to organize a team representing their business or organization and encourage their employees, customers etc. to participate.

For more than 35 years, the American Cancer Society has been sharing hope for a world free from cancer with Daffodil Days®, a beloved program to welcome spring and help raise funds and awareness to fight cancer and to create a world with more birthdays. Volunteers are needed now to assist with 2011 event planning.
The American Cancer Society is currently seeking Daffodil Days volunteers and a Rutland County coordinator to share the hope for a cancer free future. The county coordinator will be responsible for promoting the program to local businesses, schools, and organizations and overseeing orders and deliveries. Individuals interested in serving as county coordinator should have an interest in working with community leaders and the public, knowledge of their community, and good organizational skills. Volunteers are needed to assist in event planning and coordinating orders, as well as packing and delivering daffodils in March 2011.

A large crowd was on hand for the January Chamber Mixer held at Cobra Gymnastics and Dance Studio. The February Chamber Mixer will be held at CSC's Spartan Arena in Rutland on Tuesday, February 8th, 5-7pm.

2011 Vermont Governor’s Workplace Safety Award Nominations to be accepted:
The Governor of Vermont and the Vermont Department of Labor have annually recognized Vermont based companies that have made outstanding achievements in Workplace Safety and Health starting in 2005. The Governor’s Award on workplace safety is the highest honor given by the State of Vermont to recognize an employer’s commitment to excellence in workplace safety and health. The Governor’s award now has three categories for small, medium and large companies, as well as a special recognition category. The Governor is scheduled to announce recipients of this award during the 7th Annual Workplace Safety Award Ceremony, which will take place on Thursday, May 12, launching the Annual Vermont Workplace Safety Conference in Burlington. Information including official State press releases, nomination forms and other data will be posted on the Vermont Department of Labor’s web page.

Rutland Regional Medical Center’s Caring for the Community Campaign has surpassed its goal of $1.25 million and raised over $1.40 million in support of the purchase of a new linear accelerator for the Foley Cancer Center. The new Varian Linear Accelerator will enable the Foley Cancer Center to improve its accuracy in irradiating cancerous tumors, and thus minimizing damage to nearby healthy tissue. Linear accelerators are the newest radiation technology available today. The linear accelerator is expected to be installed in the spring of 2011. For more information call 802-747-3634
