Workers Comp Corner

The Senate is considering another bill regarding workers compensation that is not employer friendly.  You should contact your Senators and express your concerns. The bill number is S.266 and is in the Senate Economic Development Committee. We have included a link here that will take you directly to the text of the entire bill for your perusal. Here are the main points of the bill and how they may affect employers:

1) The law will make it more difficult for employers to discontinue temporary total disability benefits.

2) The law will make it more difficult for employers to recover monies that were ordered at the informal level by the DOL when the employer's position is later supported by a hearing decision.

3) The law will set forth a specific day of the week on which an employee receiving wage replacement benefits must receive their check.

4) The law will allow employees to video record an Independent Medical Examination.

According to the National Council on Compensation Insurance, Inc.(NCCI) the

Vermont Senate Bill (S.) 266 proposes several administrative and expense related
changes to the workers compensation system.

NCCI has estimated that "the provisions of Vermont S. 266 would likely result in an increase in system costs".

Workers Comp Corner is sponsored by Poulos Insurance: For more information or rates on Workman's Compensation or any other business insurance contact Chuck Rose at Poulos Insurance, 802-775-4443.
