Chamber Launches Motorcycle Events Calendar

bikers_icon_000.jpgIn an effort to continue to market the RutlandRegion as a motorcycle friendly community the Rutland Region Chamber of Commerce has created the Motorcycle Events Calendar.  Americade Motorcycle Touring Rally (which attracts 50,000 riders to the Lake George area each June) has recently chosen Rutland and Killington as two of the 10 towns to participate in Americade's Annual Scavenger Hunt the week of June 7th-12th.  The three locations named in Rutland include:  Ben & Jerry's Scoop Shop of Rutland, Norman Rockwell Museum of Vermont and Rutland Region Chamber of Commerce.  A number of high end touring motorcycle groups will be visiting the Rutland/Killington Region this summer including a BMW club and Honda Gold Wing club.  Thanks to the Steering Committee ably led by Dariece Kirby-Kline and Seth Webb of the Killington Economic Development and Tourism Commission; the Killington Classic Motorcycle Touring Rally is on tap for the fall and this year they will be joined by the New England Rally for the RETREADS International Motorcycle Club (A social motorcycle club for those over 40 years old).

The motorcycle calendar joins the "Summer Concert Calendar" (In process for 2010 Summer Season) and our comprehensive "Regional Calendar of Events" that provides information on virtually everything going on in the Rutland Region.  If you have information you would like added to any of our calendars call 802-773-2747 or email Ann Marie.

Workers' Comp Corner

What is the Workers' Compensation Assessment Fund?

  • The workers’ compensation administration fund was created to provide the funds necessary to administer Vermont’s Workers’ Compensation Program.

The fund consists of contributions from employers, based on the Workers’ Compensation Assessment Rate.

Current Workers' Compensation Assessment Rates:

  • Insurance Companies: The assessment rate after July 1, 2009 changed to .96% of the direct calendar year premiums for workers' compensation insurance.
  • Self-Insured:  1% of workers’ compensation losses during the preceding calendar year.

These assessment rates will remain in effect until further notice.

Workers Comp Corner is sponsored by Poulos Insurance: For more information or rates on Workers' Compensation or any other business insurance contact Chuck Rose at Poulos Insurance, 802-775-4443.
